January Book Club - Grave Matter

Welcome to HELLO MCHENRY BOOK CLUB! Hosted by Hello Darling Books & Beyond, our cozy & casual club meets monthly to chat about that month’s book and also get creative with a craft! This group is for book lovers who like their stories with a view and little spark!

No contract, no pressure - just pages! Pay as you go! It’s $50 which includes the book and the craft each month! For non-crafters it’s $45.

JANUARY BOOK & DATE: Suspense/Thriller Romance - Grave Matter by Karina Halle (Sunday, January 25th @ 4pm)

CRAFT: We’ll be transforming simple taper candles into enchanting works of art! A little creativity and a secret technique! You will be given two taper candles. It’s like a winter sorcery ;)

Due to cold weather (McHenry Riverwalk Shoppes off season), we will have an alternate meeting spot! We are so excited to meet at The Vixen McHenry in their VIP Lounge upstairs for Book Club! We will gather at 4pm on Sunday, January 25th. Cash bar will be available. There is parking on Green Street or in the parking lot across. Please meet at The Vixen.

About the book:

Aspiring mycologist Sydney Denik is getting a second chance. When a dream opportunity presents itself with a prestigious foundation doing promising Alzheimer's research, Sydney leaves the shambles of her old life to join a dozen other grad students at an isolated lodge hidden away in a remote, fog-shrouded inlet on Vancouver Island. But the Madrona Foundation harbors more than brilliant minds. Everyone around her is hiding a terrible secret-including the resident psychologist she's falling in love with. A student disappears, and no one but Sydney seems to care. Ghosts walk the halls. Snow falls in the middle of summer. Dead animals move like the living. The more Sydney uncovers about the foundation, the more she begins to question her own sanity. And if Sydney isn't going mad, then the horrors in the surrounding forest are real, and the Madrona Foundation may be the biggest monster of all.

It’s not required to gather with us at each Book Club BUT we encourage you to! We meet new readers, laugh and get to escape for a bit and talk about that month’s book!
